High uric acid levels in the body can be caused either when the body produces too much of this acid or when the kidneys are unable to eliminate uric acid fast enough.  High uric acid can lead to frequent attacks of gout or even the development of kidney stones.

Some people with this condition can also develop high blood pressure, heart problems and chronic kidney disease.  It is important to bring the level of high uric acid down and the best way to do so is through making dietary changes. The following is some information about food recommendations for people with high uric acid.

High Fiber Foods

Those people who have high uric acid in their bodies must concentrate on eating high fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and seeds. The dietary fiber tends to absorb the uric acid from the bloodstream and allows it to eliminate the acid from the body through the kidneys.  Some best sources of dietary fiber are spinach, oats and broccoli.

Cold Pressed Olive Oil

Rather than using butter or vegetable oil, using cold pressure olive oil can also help you to bring down the high levels of uric acid. Other types of oils turn rancid on heating or processing and may destroy vitamin E from the body. Vitamin E is important for controlling levels of uric acid. On the other hand, cold pressed olive oil does not destroy vitamin E and helps control uric acid in the body.

Vitamin C

Those with high uric acid in their bodies must also concentrate upon including a lot of vitamin C to their diets. This help to bring down the uric acid level. One must have about 500 milligrams of vitamin C on a regular basis either through foods or through supplements.

Celery Seed Extract

It is said that celery seed extract can also help to lower down the levels of high uric acid in your body. Celery possesses sedatives and antioxidants and has a mild diuretic action. It helps to treat gout, arthritis and rheumatism which are all related to high levels of uric acid in the body.

Antioxidant Rich Foods

Aanother superb dietary way to bring down high uric acid is to eat a lot of foods that are high on the amount of antioxidants present. Some of the fruits and vegetables which contain high antioxidant content include tomatoes, blueberries, red bell peppers, grapes, broccoli and others. Antioxidants are basically those vitamins which prevent free radical molecules from attacking organs and muscle tissue cells may thus help lower uric acid levels.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar too can help reduce high uric acid levels in your body by changing pH levels. You can add 2 tablespoons of this vinegar to a glass of water and drink it about 2 to 3 times every day.  It can also be used topically by adding a few drops to water and applying it to the affected area for about 30 minutes.
