When you want to treat refractory epilepsy in children then a low carbohydrate diet is followed with high fat and adequate protein. This diet burns the fat instead of the carbohydrate. In this low carb diet, ketones are produced in the liver that is used as energy. Therefore the name of the plan is ketogenic. The ketosis menu varies from 2 days to 7 days and even to 30 days.
The 3 Week Plan
Week 1
In breakfast, try and utilise the leftovers. Drink plenty of water and salt intake to be higher to prevent headaches and fatigues. So re-hydrate and recycle your electrolytes at regular intervals.
Breakfast
Start the day 1 of the diet on a weekend so that you can make something to last the whole of the week. So the first week should be kept as simple as possible.
Lunch
Lunch too can be made non-cumbersome with salad and meat in high fat dressings.
Dinner
Dinner should be a combination of leaves like broccoli or spinach and some meat too.
Avoid any dessert in the first couple of weeks.
Week 2
There is a coffee that is recommended made up of butter, coconut oil and some heavy cream.
Breakfast
In case you are not a fan of coffee, try it with tea, but the concoction is bulletproof. The intake of this coffee will lead to more energy and fat loss too. you can even add little sweetner if you so wish.
Lunch
The fats from the morning will keep you feeling full for a long time and you will only feel around 2. But make sure to drink plenty of water.
Dinner
You can have a mix of meats vegetable and fats and can even add some bread too. One added bonus is that dessert is allowed this week. So go ahead and prepare a low-carb dessert.
Week 3
This week you got to skip breakfast and lunch altogether. But keep drinking fluids be it tea. This week you get to experiment more with desert and dinner and can also gorge on snacks and protein laden chicken.
Breakfast
Take either tea or coffee to improve brain function and increase the metabolic rate.
Lunch
Only water. So the advice would be four litres of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Dinner
The most fantastic time of the day is dinner with lots of food and desserts. Break the fast with a snack and then eat to your satisfaction after 20-30 minutes.
The Three Day Keto Kick-Start
Day 1
Breakfast
Cream cheese pancakes and 2-3 cubes of cheese for snacks.
Lunch
Mayonaise, spinach, cream cheese can be combined for anything tasty that suits your taste-buds and an avocado after a couple of hours.
Dinner and Dessert
Chocolate truffles or mousse, celery, cheese
Day 2
Breakfast
Eggs and coffee with heavy cream and avocado a little later
Lunch
Chicken broth, tuna sandwich with lettuce, mayo and salt/pepper
Dinner
Cheese, sour cream, pork
Day 3
Breakfast
Coffee with heavy cream and cream cheese pancakes and 12 almonds in mid morning
Lunch
Anything leftover like cheese and ham pancakes or tuna salad

Cajun chicken, cauliflower puree, baby spinach and a chocolate dessert
