Mental fatigue is the inability of a human being to give optimum cognitive performance. Symptoms of mental fatigue set in gradually and hamper cognitive performance of an individual. It gets reflected as lethargy, somnolence, attention deficiency etc.
The causes of mental fatigue can be physical as well as mental. Sleep deprivation and lack of balanced diet are the main causes of mental fatigue. You can come out of mental fatigue by a few tried and trusted home remedies that have showed positive results over the years. Here are some of them.
1. Milk, Honey and Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha, a common ayurvedic herb, has been used in treating lethargy since ages. You can take a drink made of ashwagandha, honey and milk to fight mental fatigue. Take a glass of warm milk and add a tea spoon of ashwagandha powder and two tea spoons of honey in it. Mix well. You can take this drink twice daily to fight away mental fatigue.
Indian Gooseberies or as we commonly call it ‘amla’ has great anti oxidant values. It has the capacity to benefit the heart, stomach and other organs. A drink prepared by using ‘amla’, honey and water has the capacity to fight away mental fatigue. Take 4-5 ‘amla’ and crush them after removing the seeds. Add the paste to 300 ml of hot water and boil the mixture for about 20 minutes and then let it cool. Strain the liquid by the help of a sieve. You can add honey to improve the taste. Drink this liquid three times a day to help fight mental fatigue.
Dates are a huge source of iron. An effective and easy way to get relief of mental fatigue is to have dates regularly. Soak 5-7 dates in about half a cup of water in the night and crush the pulp in the morning after removing the seeds. You can drink this two times a week to get rid of fatigue. Dates can be taken as snacks along with a glass of milk to drive away fatigue and revitalize yourself.
4. Herbal Remedies
Some easily found herbs, such as drumstick leaves and Aloe Vera gel can be used to fight mental fatigue. You can boil two teaspoon of drumstick leaves in a cup of milk, strain it and drink the mixture to treat fatigue. Another remedy of fatigue is taking half a teaspoon of Aloe Vera gel along with a pinch of turmeric powder.
5. Iron and Vitamin C Rich Food
You may feel exhausted and stressed out because of deficiency of iron in your body. However, Iron is well absorbed in the body by the presence of Vitamin C and thus including Iron and Vitamin C rich food in your diet will help you fight away mental fatigue.
6. Hot and Cold Bath
Quick bath simultaneously with hot and cold water alternatively combats fatigue and stress. Use of hot and cold water alternatively enhances blood circulation and muscle activity in your body. This helps as a stimulant to revive you.
