Acidity is something which affects us all from time to time. It occurs due to an excess or imbalance of digestive acids produced in the stomach and can lead to stomach ache, bloating, constipation, gas, nausea and bad breath.  Some of the reasons why acidity might occur include eating spicy food, lack of exercising, drinking alcohol frequently, stress and others.

There are many over the counter methods to cure acidity but it is better to try natural ways or home remedies to get rid of it. The following are the top 6 home remedies that can help you eliminate acidity and the discomfort it brings along:

1. Basil Leaves

The best way to cure acidity is to either eat raw basil leaves and chew them thoroughly or boil 3 to 5 of them in a cup of water and sweeten this mixture with honey to sip it later. Sipping this basil tea frequently can help your stomach to stay clean and free of any acid reflux. Basil leaves offer soothing and carminative properties which provide an instant relief from acidity.

2. Cinnamon

Another natural ingredient that works well on acidity is cinnamon.  It works as a natural antacid and releases gas that gets collected in the stomach. You can add half a teaspoon of cinnamon to a cup of water, boil this mixture and drink this tea two to three times a day to find relief.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

This highly acidic vinegar is also considered a great home remedy for treating acidity. To use it, you can mix about 1-2 teaspoons of this vinegar to a cup of water and drink it once or twice a day to cure acidity. Apple cider vinegar has a natural alkalizing effect and dispels acidity fast.

4. Cloves

Another magic ingredient that can help treat acidity is cloves, which can dispel gas and acidity due to its carminative effect that increases the hydrochloric acid in the stomach.  You can chew two to three cloves thoroughly so that the juices can be released into the system.  You can also eat crushed cloves and cinnamon mixed in equal amounts as well.

5. Cumin Seeds

Cumin seeds too work really well for relieving acidity as these seeds work as neutralizers and provide relief from stomach pain as well. You can slightly roast few seeds and have them with water.  You can drink this mixture after every meal. You can also boil one teaspoon in a cup of water and strain it.

6. Ginger

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat acidity. It helps to neutralize the acids in the stomach. You can just chew a little bit of ginger when you experience stomach troubles. You can also put some fresh ginger in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for a few minutes before drinking it as tea.  You can also drink a few spoons of ginger juice every day.
