Piles, also known as hemorrhoids affects a large percentage of the population across the world at some or the other point in their lives.  This condition mostly affects people who are between the age of 45 and 65.  This is a common problem which occurs when the veins present in the anus and the rectum get swollen and inflamed.

There are many factors that can cause this condition and some of them include family history, gravity, a low fiber diet, constipation, obesity, heavy lifting and food allergies etc. There are a number of natural or home remedial solutions to treat piles and the following are the best ones:

1. Ice

One of the best home remedy for treating piles is using ice. What ice does is that it constricts the blood vessels, reduces pain and provides immediate relief. It also reduces swelling. To use ice, you can apply an icepack or ice wrapped in cloth directly on the affected area for about 10 minutes several times a day.

2. Aloe Vera

This is one of the best home ingredients for treating piles. It has thereupatic and anti inflammatory properties which can reduce the irritation caused due to piles.  It can be used both for internal and external piles.  You can apply a little bit of aloe vera gel on the anus and slowly massage the area.  It will provide relief not just from the pain but also from the burning sensation.

3. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice contains several nutrients which can provide relief from hemorrhoids. Lemon juice helps to strengthen the capillaries and blood vessel walls and offers quick treatment. You can squeeze a little bit of lemon juice, dip it in a cotton ball and apply it to the hemorrhoids.  You can also squeeze lemon juice into a cup of hot milk and drink it every three hours for the best results.

4. Almond Oil

Almond oil is popular for its deep tissue absorption and emollient properties. It can be used well for treating external hemorrhoids.  To use it, you can dip a cotton ball in a little bit of almond oil and apply it directly on the affected area.  This moisturizes the area and eases out the inflammation.  This will help to relieve the burning sensation and the itching. Doing this several times of the day can prove useful.

5. Olive Oil

Olive oil has antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties and due to these properties, it can be used to treat external piles. Olive oil helps to increase the elasticity of the blood vessels and reduces the inflammation. It also shrinks the size of swollen blood vessels in the anal canal. Consuming one teaspoon of olive oil daily is a good way to get rid of the painful problem of piles. You can also crush the juice out of plum leaves and add it to olive oil to create a mixture that can be applied to the affected area.  This method gives relief from pain and swelling.
