The skeleton is made up of bones provides support and shape to the body. They protect the soft internal organs such as brain, heart and many other organs from the injury. These bones together with muscles enable the body to move freely. Bones have a solid outer surface called compact bone and the inner bone is called spongy bone because it is less dense than the compact bone. Bones contains the cells called osteoclast the break down bone tissue. Other cells called osteoblast makes new bone tissue using minerals such as calcium and phosphate from the blood. Hormones such as oestrogen help to keep the number and activity of osteoblast higher than the osteoclast, so that more bone is made. Physical forces and pressure during exercises help the bone to grow faster and stronger. People have their strongest and dense bones called peak bone mass in their 30’s. After this age the osteoclast removes more bone than osteoblast make

Osteoporosis is a condition that leads to weaken bone causing them to break more easily. A healthy bone is dense enough to support and protect the body and to handle the stresses and handle the minor injuries. People suffering osteoporosis have abnormally thin bone and larger holes in the spongy bone. There are two types of osteoporosis. Primary osteoporosis is related to older age and reduced amount of oestrogen in women. Secondary osteoporosis affects both children and adults. This condition is also related to other conditions like cancer, hormone problems and use of certain medications.  Here are some home remedies that you can try out if you are suffering from osteoporosis. However, if conditions get worse, you should immediately see the doctor.

This is rich in polyphenols and flavonoids, the flavonoid known as phloridzin present in apples helps to protect women from osteoporosis by increasing the bone density. Also, apples are rich in boron which is a trace mineral that helps the body to hold on to calcium, which is the building block of bones as well as muscles.

Fish oil supplements

Taking 1000mg of fish oil once in day helps to treat in osteoporosis. Fish oil supplements help to increase bone density as it contains the omega-3 essential fatty acids and vitamin D content. In addition to that you can also eat cold-water fish like salmon to raise the amount of essential fatty acids in your diet.

Coriander

It is rich in minerals which are essential in maintaining bone strength. Calcium and manganese play a key role in treating and preventing fragile bones. These nutrients also help decrease spinal bone loss in older women.

Pineapple

Have a cup of fresh pineapple daily before a meal. One cup of pineapple provides about 75% of manganese. Pineapple contains manganese which is beneficial in treating with osteoporosis. Alternatively, you can drink a cup of pineapple juice daily to prevent osteoporosis.
