Bottle gourd commonly called as lauki is a staple food item seen in most of the Indian cuisine. Bottle gourd contains 92% of water and it got its name because of its shape. Bottle gourd is a famous vegetable all around the world.

Health Benefits of bottle gourd

There are many health benefits of eating bottle gourd. The most famous benefits are:

  1. Cooling effect

Bottle gourd contains excessive amount of water and have a cooling effect on your body. It is generally consumed during summer as it reduces excessive body heat and keeps your stomach cool.

  1. Sleeping disorder

Bottle gourd reduces or completely eradicates the sleeping disorders in patients. Generally insomnia patients who are treated with bottle gourd juice. A mixture of bottle gourd juice and sesame oil is usually used for treating sleeping disorder.

  1. Healthy heart

Bottle gourd is known to improve heart health by regulating the blood pressure. Bottle gourd can be included in daily diet for better results.

  1. Hair graying

Hair graying is caused due to adulteration of food and pollution in people between 25-30 years of age. Drinking a glass of bottle gourd juice every morning can stop the premature graying of hairs in both men and women.
