Water is a very important component of human body. It is said that 60% of our body is composed of water. But it is a continuous process. Every day we lose water in the form of urine and sweat and exhale it in our breath. These water losses should be replenished in order to be healthy.

Normally it is advised to drink 8 glasses of water in a day to stay adequately hydrated. It comes around 2 litres of water every day.

Here are few health benefits of drinking water:

Glowing Skin

Drinking enough water keeps your skin hydrated. Because of the perspiration occurring through the skin, skin becomes dry and scaly if water consumption is less. Where as in, good intake of water every day keeps the skin moisture intact. And makes it glow.

Energy Replenishment

Drinking water at 2-3 hourly intervals, gives body enough water to use in various physiological processes which leads to maintain energy levels. If you forget to drink water for 3-4 hours, you will notice that you will feel lethargic, sleepy and exhausted. Drinking water will replenish the body reserves of water and makes you feel energised and fresh.

Mood Improvement

Many times mild dehydration might make you a little bit edgy and restless. It can also affect your mood and ability to think. The colour of your urine is a good measure to check for the levels of dehydration. Darker the colour, more is the dehydration and vice versa.

Many times because of inadequate intake of water leads to complaints of increased frequency of urination, painful urination, itching at urethral opening. These all are symptoms of urinary tract infection. Having enough water intake flushes out the bacteria present in the urinary tract and keeps it clean and risk of urinary infection is avoided.

If the water intake is not enough, it leads to formation of kidney stone. Having plenty of water every day flushes out the stone forming elements like calcium and phosphorous out of the kidney. These toxins are thrown out of the body with water. Making the body detoxified. It improves the kidney function.

A Good Remedy for Head Ache and Migraines 

Having a glass of water when you are having a head ache might be the solution to cure it. Research shows that people having good hydration are less likely to suffer from migraine attacks.

Cures Heart Burns & Burps

Adequate intake of water after a meal will decrease the incidence of heart burns. Heart burns usually happen because of increased acid secretion in the stomach. These acids will get diluted if enough hydration is maintained.

Relieves Constipation

Having enough water every day is very important for the health of your digestive system. Inadequate water in the body often leads to complaints of constipation. Our large intestine draws water from the stools. The stool water content decreases making them hard and it results in constipation.

Helps in Weight Loss

Maintain a good hydration is very important in order to lose weight. Drinking water also curbs the hunger pangs which is the primary reason for the binge eating. Make sure you drink water before starting with your meal. It also increases the rate of fat cell burning of your body.

Regulates Body Temperature

Water is an important factor in deciding the body temperature. The water has the ability to lose the thermal heat of the body in the form of perspiration (sweat). It helps in maintaining and regulating the body temperature.
