Healthy lifestyle is a collective effort of all the activities you do right from waking up to going to bed. We all follow a routine every day, but only an efficient and effective routine is the one which keeps your fitness on track.

1. Start early
No matter how much cliché’ it may sound or however ‘uncool’ it may look, but waking up early morning is the first step towards wellness. Start your day early, sometimes even before sunrise. Waking up early has two big advantages—exercise and breakfast. You might complain of not getting time to work out, but with those extra hours in the morning, you can surely get the time to exercise. By starting early, you can also eliminate the problem of skipping breakfast, which is the most important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. Waking up early indirectly reduces the stress of rushing when you get up late.
2. Follow Six-meal plan
We generally consume three big meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This kind of eating give rise to a variety of health issues like irregular blood sugar levels, metabolism slowdown, insulin spikes etc. Split your meal into a more robust six-meal plan—breakfast, mid-morning snacks, lunch, evening snacks, dinner, before bed meal. Taking six small meals at regular intervals keeps your metabolism running, thereby reducing the risk of weight gain.
3. Stay hydrated
When you work out, walk, speak, or even blink, you burn water. However, in this busy lifestyle it is very easy to skip drinking water. National Academy of Medicine recommends a daily water intake of 3.7 litres for men and 2.7 litres for women. But you don’t need to drink water in bulk to achieve this figure, you need a plan. Consume 500ml of water right upon waking up. Take a glass of water (250ml) half an hour before and after every meal. In this way, you can keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
4. Dynamic exercise
When it comes to exercise, people blindly run on treadmill for hours. Running is a cardiovascular exercise and keeps your healthy. But it must be accompanied by weight training as well. Hitting weights strengthens your muscles and improves your overall strength and stamina. You can also opt for other physical activities like swimming, Zumba, aerobics, yoga etc.
5. Adequate sleep
The recommended sleeping hours for adults is minimum seven hours. Avoid caffeine six hours before sleep. Consuming magnesium before bed aids in a sound sleep. Hence, you can take 10-12 almonds or almond milk, which is very rich in magnesium, before bed. You can relate to point number 1 here. Once you commit yourself to wake up early and make it habit, you would find yourself going to bed an hour or two earlier than you usually go.
