There are so many ways to take care of the skin and keep it healthy and glowing. From cold creams to sunscreen lotions and from night creams to day creams, the options are numerous; you must  carefully choose the best way to maintain the health and glow of your skin. Both day  and night creams are considered to be beneficial for the skin but do you know the main differences between these? If not, then the following  information will be useful for you.

Day Creams

Day creams are more focused on protecting the skin from the harmful effects of several things such as the harsh UV rays, pollution, environmental changes and stress, makeup, etc.  Most day creams are filled with ingredients that prevent aging, tanning, burning and fight free radical effect on the skin. They usually have a formula that makes the skin look firm and energized.

Day creams are made in such a way that they can be –applied under the cosmetics. They are usually light and generally non-greasy in concentration so that they can be absorbed by our skins quickly and easily. They are also light so that the pores can breathe easily.  Ideally, day creams make the skin look smooth and oil free for long periods of time.

Many day cream compounds usually are free of alpha hydroxy acids as well as retinoids which can make the skin very sensitive to UV rays and the sun.  Also, they must not be packed tightly with so many ingredients because they tend to lose their effectiveness.

Night Creams

The night is the time when the skin repairs itself and does heavy lifting. Skin tends to repair, restore and maintain itself in the night while we are asleep. This is why night creams are focused on recovery and moisturization. Most night creams consist of slow absorbing moisturizers and powerful ingredients which can penetrate through the skin layers over a span of the sleeping hours.

Since there is no issue regarding sun exposure at night, these creams are rich in terms of anti-aging compounds including retinol, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid.  These ingredients perform their job very well since there is no disturbance or interference of the sun at night time. This is the reason why night creams tend to be thick, heavy and rich as compared to day creams. By the time we wake up, the cream is completely absorbed by the skin.

So Which One Should be used?

If you are wondering which of these creams should be used then you should know that using both of them will give you good results. Both have different set of benefits and one is incomplete without the other. However most women may prefer to use only day creams and do not realize the benefits of the night creams.
