Night fall is an occurrence of spontaneous (involuntary) orgasm which occurs during sleep. It is also known with other terms such as “wet dreams” or “nocturnal emission”. It is a common physiological phenomenon which occurs in the adolescent age group most commonly.

This orgasm consists of ejaculation in males and vaginal wetness in females. This incidence results in much embarrassment and discomfort and also leads to feeling confusion and guilt in many adolescents. As their body is changing and they are going through a physical as well as psychological transition period, it’s a very sensitive issue to be handled carefully in these young individuals.

Many times there is a lot of misunderstanding about this incidence in them and they are too embarrassed to ask about this to their parents or elders. Most of them turn to their peers though hesitantly for these queries. But, as these peers will also be from the same age group most probably, the likelihood of getting incomplete and most importantly wrong information is more.

It is Wrong

Many young adults get confused by this incidence. And feel guilty for it. Where as in, it should be understood that it is a common in this age group as the testicles are forming sperms and in order to empty the reservoir there is spontaneous night fall.

It Happens only in Males

The occurrence of night fall is more common in males. But that doesn’t mean the females don’t experience night fall. Females also might get a sexual dream which will result them to have a spontaneous orgasm in sleep without them being aware of it. As males get emission, there is increased wetness which is felt and wakes them up from the sleep. Females might not notice this occurrence if happens.

It is a Sign of an Illness

Many of the people think that having a night fall points to an underlying disease. This is a myth. It is a normal phenomenon. And unless it’s occurring in a disturbingly high frequency, it’s healthy for the well being of sexual and mental health.

It makes you Weak

Having night falls may decrease your immunity. This is one of the most ludicrous myths that have been spread in our community. Actually night falls occur when there is absence of sex or masturbation to release the sperms. It is nature’s way of removing the excess sperms from the testicular sac.

It Reduces the Sperm Count

This is a popular feared myth. Night falls do not reduce the sperm count. It is just a body’s mechanism to throw out the overflowing content from testicular sac in order to empty the reservoir and induce the regular formation of healthy sperms.

It Reduces the Size of the Penis

Many people wrongly believe that because of night falls, the penis shrinks. It is not possible. The sexual health doesn’t depend on the length of the penis. And there are no methods by which the length can be increased or no illness by which it will get decreased on its own.

Instead of wrongly diagnosing when it comes to sexual problems, it’s always better to consult a psychiatrist if you have any queries.
