50 New Swine Flu Cases in Delhi, Half of them Children

The number of people infected with the H1N1 Swine Flu virus in the national capital is at 772 cases. Recently 50 new positive cases of the swine flu infection were identified and of those, 24 are children, as reported here. Out of the 50, 15 have been admitted to hospital and the other 35 have been told to be quarantined at home.
Of the total number of 772 cases in Delhi, 681 have been treated and discharged, however new cases come to light each day.
Meanwhile PTI reports that the total number of infected people in the country is now 4,488. Yesterday the swine flu virus claimed 5 lives and this takes the national toll to 116 according to this report. Although Maharashtra still tops the chart as far as reports of infected swine flu patients goes, states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are also reporting high rates of infection. Fresh cases were also reported from Uttar Pradesh (30), Kerala (2), Haryana (1), Goa (1), West Bengal (1), Uttarakhand (1) and Jammu and Kashmir (1).
“Till date, samples from 22,847 people have been tested for influenza A (H1N1) in various government laboratories across the country and 4,198 of them have been found positive,” the health ministry said in a statement.
