Delhi Faces second wave of swine flu; More Awareness Ads Planned

Swine Flu AwarenessWith winter well and truly having set into north India, the national capital has seen a sharp spike in the number of H1N1 Swine flu cases. On Saturday, out of the three swine flu deaths in the country, two were confirmed as having occurred in Delhi. Also out of the 139 fresh cases reported, as many as 111 were from Delhi alone. This figure of 111 includes 73 children, which in itself may be a worrying statistic.

It is therefore planned that there will be a slew of adverts that will be featured in newspapers in the coming week; which will seek to spread more awareness about the Swine flu pandemic. This is in view of the fact that the second wave of swine flu was expected to raise the number of positive cases as has now been seen.

“Over the last three days, we have been getting almost 100 cases of swine flu on an average. Yet, I won’t call this number alarming because, as announced by WHO, with winters approaching the second wave of the flu will hit many more people,” Anjana Prakash, assistant nodal officer handling swine flu cases in Delhi, said according to this report.
