As per a report published here, Delhiites are hesitating to seek medical attention and be tested for the H1N1 Swine Flu virus even when they are showing symptoms similar to those observed in Swine Flu. According to officials, this is the reason that the number of swine flu victims are rising in the national capital. Those showing symptoms such as cold, cough, fever etc are coming to consult doctors rather late whereas citizens are advised to seek medical attention immediately in case of such symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be started at once.
“Despite all our efforts to make people aware that they should immediately approach the nearest hospital if they show swine flu-like symptoms, the majority are not following it. Delayed medical consultation by people is one of the reasons for increasing swine flu numbers in the capital,” said Anjan Prakash, state nodal officer for swine flu.
The national capital so far has reported 2,065 swine flu cases and of these 1,018 are children. Nine people have died of the H1N1 virus in Delhi. Meanwhile the national death toll from the H1N1 Swine Flu virus is 264, according to the health ministry. The number of people affected nation wide so far to 8,696.
