Dropping Temperatures of Past Two Days see Jump in Swine flu Cases

dropping tempratureNew Delhi has seen a significant drop in temperature in the past few days and with that there has been a significant rise in the number of positive H1N1 Swine flu cases reported from the national capital as well.

There were 63 new cases reported on Wednesday whereas there were 62 new cases reported on Tuesday in Delhi according to this report. “The temperature has dipped in the northern parts of the country in the past few days. With the onset of winter, swine flu cases will increase but as of now the infection is mild and the morbidity is not much,” Randeep Guleria, head of medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was quoted as having said. He added that people need to be more vigilant and take precautions during the winter.

Meanwhile the overall death toll in the country from the swine flu pandemic is at 537, with the total number infected with the H1N1 virus having crossed 16,000. Maharashtra continues to top the chart of reporting the highest number of deaths – 214 – in the country due to swine flu, followed by 119 in Karnataka.
