Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was diagnosed with Swine Flu last week, is now being kept in isolation for one week according to this Indian Express report. Modi has a team of doctors attending on him at his official residence and all his appointments have been cancelled.
Reportedly an advisory has been issued to the ministers of the state cabinet to reduce their interaction with the public for some time and even when it becomes absolutely essential, to do so keeping a distance. Government officials and members of the delegation that accompanied him to Russia are also being administered Tamiflu.
Meanwhile a high level probe was instituted to find out where and how the Gujarat CM contracted the H1N1 Swine flu virus and according to this Times report it seems likely that he already was infected in India, before he left for Russia.
The Swine flu virus has an incubation period of 7 days before the real symptoms of the virus begin to manifest themselves in the host or the infected individual. So it is likely that Modi contracted the virus prior to leaving on the 5 day visit to Russia.
Prior to the Russia trip, Modi had spent a great deal of time attending public functions which involved him being in crowded locations in the cities of Ahmedabad and Vadodara where he could easily have contracted the virus.
As of now the CM’s fever is in control, there is no complication and that his condition was improving and that he is responding well to the medical treatment. According to the panel of five doctors which is treating Modi, the CM is out of danger. We are informed that all parameters of Modi’s health are normal and he has been advised complete bed rest for a few more days in isolation at his residence.
