Now we are told Two Shots Required for Children and One for Pregnant Women

pregnant 300x187 Now we are told Two Shots Required for Children and One for Pregnant WomenWhereas the WHO has opined that just one flu shot is enough for children, now federal officials in the United States have said that children, who are more vulnerable to the H1N1 Swine flu pandemic, will require two shots of the Swine flu vaccine, not just one, which may not offer sufficient immunity.

On the other hand according to this report here, one shot was found to be enough for pregnant women, 92% of whom showed sufficient immune response even after receiving only one shot of the Swine flu vaccine. The same study found that one shot of the vaccine appeared to have a weaker response in children aged between 3 and 9 years, only 55% of whom showed sufficient immune response. It was only after the second dose that they showed adequate immune response.

This is contrary to the WHO directive issued some days back. The WHO directive had indicated that it was more important to vaccinate a bigger number of children rather than to give each child two shots. So if the children were given only one shot, then with the same number of vaccines, double the number of children could be vaccinated.
