Swine Flu – H1N1 Influenza

H1N1

Story Of A Swine Flu Survivor

Swine Flu VictimA very interesting, informative and educative story about a person who was affected by the H1N1 Swine Flu virus and has survived unscathed for the ordeal is available here for all to read. It is now after the illness has subsided that the writer is able to say with some degree of certainty; based on symptoms, duration, and severity that is was “highly likely,” that what she had was Swine Flu.

The writer describes the onset of the illness with symptoms such as fatigue and nausea which then went on to a sore throat and a long running bad cold. These symptoms continued for a couple of weeks. The fever was never high enough to be worrisome; remaining in the region of about 100 degrees. There was also some productive coughing.

At the time the writer had no idea that it was swine flu that was causing the symptoms; so when the symptoms were at their worst she stayed at home and would have done that even more if she had known it was swine flu. So basically what she did to recover from swine flu was the following:

  • Stay at home and take rest, sleep a lot to give the body time to recover
  • Eat things with good bacteria such as yoghurt (curds) and cottage cheese and wholesome things such as grains, fruit and vegetables
  • Avoiding public places and gatherings
  • Being careful with washing hands and sneezing and coughing

The writer advises that if you are otherwise healthy all you have to do to cope with swine flu (if you do have it) is “stay home and rest, drink water, stay up on your nutrition, and pay attention to your body’s needs.” Also she advises that you can call the doctor if you are in doubt, but unless serious symptoms occur, it is not necessary to be tested.

It is necessary to get medical attention if f you have a history of lung disease, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, neurocognitive and neuromuscular disorders, suppressed immune system or if one is pregnant . Otherwise most cases do resolve themselves without medical intervention.

The import of the writer’s post is that most people recover from the virus just fine; without treatment. She says, “Everyone’s symptoms will be somewhat different based on their own body’s reaction to illness.”  Most importantly, the writer says, DON’T PANIC.
