Yesterday 4 more people in India were reported as having died from the H1N1 Swine flu pandemic, and the death toll in the country is now at 451 deaths in all. Maharashtra still has the highest number of fatalities, with 195 Swine Flu deaths, followed by Karnataka (112), Andhra Pradesh (48) and Gujarat (39). 104 new cases of Swine Flu were reported across the country, taking the number of affected people to 13,545.
Meanwhile there is now an alarming trend emerging from several parts of the country wherein doctors are being screened for Swine flu and are proving to be Swine flu positive. Recently as many as seven doctors in Bangalore tested positive for Swine flu, and so medical staff in the city hospitals are now being made to undergo certain special screening tests.
“Hospitals across Bangalore are conducting special screening tests for H1N1 virus among its doctors to keep the pandemic at bay. It’s not just the doctors and nurses treating swine flu patients who are at the risk of getting infected by the virus, but medical staff in every hospital is at risk, as they come across people who are suffering from swine flu,” an official was quoted as having said in this health news site.
