Physical activity is important for all age groups and it can have beneficial effects on your body. Physical activity is essential for children as it has a direct impact on the overall development of their body. Lack of physical activity can lead to many health problems that can range from mild to chronic. Regular physical activity is important for the following reasons:

  • Physical activity helps in maintaining good health
  • Physical activity prevents many infectious diseases and reduces the risk of chronic diseases.
  • Regular physical activity boosts the immune system of the child.
  • It also increases self-confidence in the children.
  • Physical activity can strengthen your child’s bones and muscles.
  • It helps in proper functioning of heart. It also prevents the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Physical activity improves social skills in your child.
  • Regular physical activity can increase mental awareness.
  • Physical activity can reduce the risk of type II diabetes in your child.
  • Physical activity can also prevent the development of many forms of cancers in your child.
  • Physical activity like exercise helps in keeping your arteries and veins clear and thus reduces the harmful cholesterol and fat content in the blood
  • It strengthens the lungs by constantly moving air in and out of your body.
  • Physical activity improves your child’s energy levels and makes them more energetic and active.
  • It also helps in emotional well being of the children.
  • Physical activities can improve balance and coordination in your child.
  • It also helps in building a perfect body posture of your child.

Effects of Lack of Physical Activity

Lack of physical activity can lead to many health problems ranging from mild to chronic. The most common effect on children due to lack of physical activity are:

  • The immunity is very low in children who avoid physical activities.
  • Children are emotionally not stable due to lack of exercise.
  • Stress levels are high as children take less part in physical activities.

  • It also increases the bad cholesterol levels in the body that can lead to many other health problems.
  • Lungs do not function properly and the risk of lung related disorders are high in children who are not active.
  • Mood swings are common in children with less physical activity
  • Children lack concentration due to lack of physical activity.
  • The metabolic system does not work properly in children with less physical activity.
  • Children lack muscle and bone strength when they avoid physical activity.
  • Energy levels are low that makes the child lazy and increases the risk of diseases.
